Sandgate School is very much part of the local community. Our pupils are frequently ‘out and about’ to build on their experiences and to apply their learning.

We are part of the Kendal Collaborative Partnership of schools, and the South Lakes Federation, where head teachers are committed to promoting mutual support, for the benefit of all our children. The Cumbria Special School Headteacher's Group regularly have focussed visits between the schools, which enables best practice to be observed and shared.

We are strategic partners of the Queen Katherine Teaching School Alliance and contribute to the future development of the profession by providing teacher training placements and placements for college students etc.. We provide training placements for student teachers, college students, work experience, medical and health related students and are always keen to encourage volunteers to support us in our work. Any members of our community interested in volunteering should contact the Deputy Head Daniel Hinton on 01539 792100. Please note, Safeguarding Children Regulations will apply.

The school is frequently used outside of school hours by other groups and organisations linked to the school, including holiday play schemes, and short break activities.
