Helping our students find their potential

Science relates very closely to Knowledge and Understanding of the world and that is at the very heart of what we aim to provide to students at Sandgate.  Exploration and hands on experiences will provide children with an ongoing understanding of how the world works.

During the early years of a child at Sandgate activities are planned to provide learning through play activities linked to themes and topics which provide a vehicle to learn basic scientific concepts. From Key Stage 3 depending on the child’s personal progression pathway they may follow a recognised accreditation course with opportunities to use the Queen Katherine School laboratories.Their personal pathway may progress with a more sensory based approach ensuring that a hands-on approach is fostered and built upon.  Our aim is to foster children’s curiosity and to encourage exploration and discovery at an individual pace and personalised journey.
