Full Time Teaching Assistant - Fixed Term

PCD5 – £22,183-£23,080 Pro Rata for Term Time working + 70JWC

32.5 hours/5 days per week. Fixed Term until Tuesday 19th July 2022

We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic and flexible classroom practitioners to join our vibrant school.

Sandgate is a forward- thinking special school for children and young people between the ages of 3-19. Up until the age of 14, students are educated at the Sandylands Road site. Our older students make the transition up to the Sandgate at Queen Katherine school site where they are taught in and around a busy secondary school environment in their own classroom bases. Our school has a large catchment area and accepts students with severe, profound and complex needs. Our students are diverse in terms of their abilities, interests, strengths and sense of humour.  Students often need help throughout the day in terms of support in lessons, managing their own needs, help with feeding, dressing and toileting and learning how to communicate and interact appropriately with others. No two days are the same.

This particular role will be based on the lower school site, on Sandylands road, working with the younger members of our school community.

Apprentice Teaching Assistants

We are looking for Teaching and Learning apprentices to join our busy and vibrant school in Kendal in Autumn Term 2021.

You will be based in a class of students with a range of special educational needs and help to support teaching, learning and care by working with individuals or small groups of pupils. You will build relationships with the staff team and students and help to develop the students to their greatest potential. You will receive taught sessions and support from a College tutor to help you achieve your apprenticeship.

Apprentices at our school need to be able to listen to staff and students and understand what students need from them. You will need: patience; a calm manner and approach; a sense of humour; a willingness to learn; and an interest in individuals, how they learn and how to motivate them.

Apprentices work every day of the school term times. 20% of your apprenticeship will involve face to face teaching from a tutor and keeping records of your learning in a log.

Apprentices are paid for 32.5 hours per week, at £4.30 per hour

This wage will be paid to all apprentices regardless of age as you will be in your first year of your apprenticeship.

Midday Supervisor

PCD3A £18,562 annum + 30JWCs (This role is term-time only and paid pro rata – 7.5 hours per week).

Sandgate is a forward- thinking special school for pupils with severe and complex needs, covering a wide range of abilities. Older pupils are successfully educated on our co-located Sandgate at the Queen Katherine School facility, and funding has been obtained to extend the facilities to Key Stage 3 pupils in the future.
