Sandgate is a special school for children and young people between the ages of 3-19 years.

We are a split site school and currently have a £6.5m new build in progress on our upper school site. We
take pride in fostering a positive and dynamic learning environment for students with severe learning
difficulties.

Our school has a large catchment area and accepts students with severe, profound and complex needs. Our
students are diverse in terms of their abilities, interests, strengths and sense of humour and therefore, our

SEN Teacher

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, flexible and qualified SEN teacher to join our school team.

You will deliver on:

  • QTS
  • At least 5 years experience working with SEN students, particularly those with an ASC diagnosis
  • Passion for education, commitment and reliability
  • Incredible patience
  • Planning for a safe learning environment
  • Providing engaging educational content for student learning
  • Experience implementing a wide variety of learning styles with a proven record of success
  • Ability to proactively and positively manage severe and complex behavioural challenges
  • Experience in recording student information (academic and behavioural) using a range of software
    programmes
  • Experience in working collaboratively within a team, and managing teaching assistants

Swimming Teacher

Swimming Teacher

PCD8ii – Part time position with a starting salary of £29,777 Pro Rata for Term Time only, hourly rate of £15.43

Fixed Term until July 2024

Sandgate is looking to recruit a fun, enthusiastic and qualified swimming teacher who has experience and/or an interest of working with students with additional needs in early years, primary and secondary settings.

Your primary role will be to plan, deliver and review the highest quality, themed, fun and safe learn to swim lessons and/or sensory swim sessions for 3-19 years, changing lives through giving every child the opportunity to learn to swim and to learn through water play.

Safety is our number one priority, and the Swimming Teacher will work closely with Hydrotherapy Pool Lifeguards to ensure preparation of areas and equipment, management of incidents and adhering to the rules and guidelines set out by the Hydrotherapy Pool. The teacher will also be working closely with and directing the support staff that will accompany the students whilst they are in their swimming sessions.

Cleaning Operatives

Salary OP1 Grade 1 £18,333 inclusive of living wage supplement (pro rata) – new, increased pay scales yet to be applied

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic self-starters to join our friendly, supportive and motivated cleaning team. Ideally, the candidates will have previous cleaning experience, however training is available and mentoring in the team is ongoing. This is a team that collaborates very successfully, in large part due to an experienced, present and supportive line manager.

Requirements

  • Previous experience preferred but training and mentoring will be given
  • Reliable and hardworking, with a keen eye for detail
  • Able to undertake all cleaning duties with a professional attitude and an awareness that there may be students on site
  • Flexibility to work across either school sites and during the school holidays
  • The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Relevant DBS and Barred List checks as well as references will be required for this post.

Working schedule is usually:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 3.30pm-6pm
  • 12.5 hours per week (occasional overtime hours may be necessary at times)
  • This is a year round role as the team do clean the site during school holidays
